Grades 5 - 8
Mary Adams teaches grades 5-8. Her goal is to assist her students in becoming lifelong learners through hard work and enjoyable experiences.
In our Bible class this year we will study the "Fruits of the Spirit." As we study these we will work on how to apply the principles we learn to our daily lives to help us be better Christian friends and neighbors.
In social studies we will be studying ancient kingdoms: Egypt, Mesopotamia, Israel, Greece, and Rome. We will study how history ties in with our Bible. We will also study India, China, Japan, and Africa.
In science we will study animal classification in our study of fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals. In one of our units we will study personality, relationships, child abuse, and human sexuality from a Christian point of view. In our physical science unit we will study heat, energy/waves, electomagnetism, sound, and light. We will also do short studies on meteorology and oceanography.The class is looking forward to more work with dissection and microscopes.
Some of the enhancement classes we are offering this year are: German with Mr. Walters, art and keyboarding with Mrs. Herling, band with Hud & Larry deFluiter, and possibly a ceramics class.
